My THM haul is something I had to share with you today! I’ve decided to keep it simple this week for my THM meals so I made a trip to Earth Fare and Aldi grocery store since I want to keep my costs down. Starting out, so many think that this plan is an expensive way of eating but it doesn’t have to be that way. There are some ingredients that cost a bit more (which I’ll cover in another post) but start slowly and it’s not so bad.
At Earth Fare I got 1.5 lbs of ground round for $3.99/lb which I plan on making small hamburgers. I also got King Arthur sprouted wheat flour for $4.99. Both of those were on sale making that a great deal! Remember I said I can have bread? I make a loaf of sprouted wheat bread which lasts me about 2 weeks.
I’m sure you’re wondering why I can eat sprouted bread. THM isn’t low carb, it’s “carb conscious”. This means I can eat healthy carbs while still losing weight. This way of eating is about how you pair carbs, fat and protein.
What is Sprouted Flour?
Sprouted flour means the wheat kernels are soaked, encouraging them to sprout. Sprouting breaks down the starches in grains so your body can digest them easily, causing less insulin spikes. Sprouting also helps break down enzyme inhibitors, so your body can more easily absorb calcium, magnesium, iron, copper and zinc. It’s better bread for your body!
Now on to Aldi. I got chicken tenderloins, mushrooms, fresh spinach, feta cheese, cheese sticks and blackberries. I’m planning on brining the chicken to make it more moist then cooking it in my Power XL Pressure cooker. This will be the first time I’m cooking chicken this way so I hope it turns out good. The chicken will be cut into bite size pieces to make a salad with the fresh spinach and feta cheese. I’ll also use some salad dressing to get some healthy fats. I’ll use the blackberries and cheese sticks for snacks.
All-in-all a pretty good haul this week!
