Plexus Block does just what its name suggests… it blocks starches and sugars from converting to glucose in the body. It promotes healthy blood sugar levels and contributes to an enhanced state of overall wellness. Block slows the absorption of starch and sugar for healthy glucose levels and can help to reduce starch and sugar from converting to glucose in the body by up to 48%.
This is the description pulled from the Plexus website.
Description: Experts typically point to the over-consumption of simple carbohydrates, sugars and starches as a primary culprit in our declining state of health. The problem with these foods is that they are quickly converted to glucose in the body, which spikes blood-sugar levels and ultimately contributes a range of health problems, particularly over the long-term.
But there’s good news! Plexus Block does just what its name suggests— it blocks the absorption of starches and sugars up to 48%, thereby promoting healthy blood sugar levels and contributing to an enhanced state of overall wellness.*
How do I take Plexus Block?
Suggested: Take one serving of Plexus Block (2 capsules) 30 minutes before your largest meal of the day.
Optimal: Take one serving of Plexus Block 30 minutes before your TWO largest meals of the day.
Do not exceed 2 servings (4 capsules) per day.
Features and Benefits
- Beneficially modulates starch and table sugar digestion/absorption*
- Promotes healthy weight control*
- Minimizes free radical damage/oxidative stress*
Let’s take a look at exactly what Plexus Block has in it.
Microcrystalline Cellulose: Microcrystalline cellulose (C6H10O5)n is refined wood pulp. It is a white, free-flowing powder. Chemically, it is an inert substance, is not degraded during digestion and has no appreciable absorption. In large quantities it provides dietary bulk and may lead to a laxative effect.
Microcrystalline cellulose is a commonly used ingrediant in the pharmaceutical industry. It has excellent compressibility properties and is used in solid dose forms, such as tablets. Tablets can be formed that are hard, but dissolve quickly. Microcrystalline cellulose is the same as cellulose, except that it meets USP standards.
Gelatin: Gelatin is used for weight loss and for treating osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and brittle bones (osteoporosis). Some people also use it for strengthening bones, joints, and fingernails. Gelatin is also used for improving hair quality and to shorten recovery after exercise and sports-related injury.
Magnesium Stearate: Magnesium stearate is often used as an anti-adherent in the manufacture of medical tablets, capsules and powders. In this regard, the substance is also useful, because it has lubricating properties, preventing ingredients from sticking to manufacturing equipment during the compression of chemical powders into solid tablets; magnesium stearate is the most commonly used lubricant for tablets.
Silicon Dioxide: Silicon dioxide is a type of silica, and its chemical name is SiO2. It is composed of the element silicon bound with 2 oxygen molecules. Silica is the primary chemical compound found in sand and rocks, and makes up nearly 90 percent of the total Earth’s mass. Silicon dioxide is inert, which means it will not interfere with any active ingredients in supplements or drugs. The type of silicon regularly used in food and supplements is synthetic amorphous silicon. Silicon dioxide and SAS are chemically identical.
White Kidney Bean 10:1 Extract: White Kidney Bean extract (also known by the brand Phase 2) is a carbohydrate blocker that works by inhibiting the digestion of starches.
By inhibiting their digestion, starches that are eaten are either left undigested in the gut or the amount of which is digested is reduced. These starches are either excreted and their calories not absorbed, or they are given to colonic bacteria to ferment (eat).
When given to people who are not otherwise on a diet (during their highest carb containing meal), white kidney bean extract is able to reduce body weight and body fat levels similar to simple caloric restriction. In cases of overfeeding, white kidney bean extract can alleviate the expected increase of body fat gain and blood parameters like triglycerides and Blood Glucose over time.
It is also possible that white kidney bean extract can protect against colon cancer in the same manner as soluble fiber.
InSea2 Brown Seaweed Blend: This includes two types of brown seaweed. Such ingredients help to block the various enzymes of digestion that can convert food intake into glucose. As a result, it can reduce the risk of blood sugar levels that aren’t healthy. It can also reduce the chances of additional weight gain.
Are there any side effects?
There are very few side effects that you may experience. The only thing I can really point out is the possible laxative effect from the Microcrystalline Cellulose ingredient. However, this is rare and something that would go away with continued use.
Is Plexus Block safe for breast-feeding?
As always, I am not a doctor so I can’t tell you if it is safe for breast-feeding or while pregnant. My suggestion is that you don’t. In the disclaimer below, that comes straight from the Plexus Website it says it is not intended for expectant or nursing mothers.

After reviewing all the ingredients, you can see how Plexus Block aids in blocking sugars and starches you might ingest with your large meals. Especially the seaweed blend and white kidney bean extract. This is something I take everyday, one in the morning and one in the evening. I will also take an extra dose when I feel like really indulging (that time of month, ladies?). 🙂
